Recent classes and creating fish out of glass
It has been so lovely to get through the cold months by sharing my craft experience with so many students. I was delighted to see the monotones in the teardrop enamelled pieces and some of the textures created on the silver clay were amazing. Speaking of texture, we had great fun making felt at Abberton Reservoir on Saturday – some tea cosies, I pad covers and even little friends were made.
Finally today I had the chance to be a little creative myself, using the fabulous ‘Passing the Flame’ as inspiration I made this little fish bead out of glass. Now back to my creative writing class before school pickup, filming my daughter for the Beano and getting ready for the next classes coming up!
Busy February at CG Crafts
Just preparing for this week’s needlefelting class when I happened to glance at the calendar. I have 7 confirmed classes this month, including every one of the different classes I teach – Enamelling, Feltmaking, Flamework, Encaustic Art and Silver Clay, I am so chuffed with this. If you are interested in any of my classes email me for dates to suit, they are great value and there’s plenty of tutor time, plus a good deal of putting the world to rights, tea and biscuits too!
Lighting the creative flame
Just a little video of me doing some flamework (making glass beads). Pictured here is my hothead torch, which runs off of propane gas. I am making a blended dot bead with clear encasing. As you can probably hear the torch is a bit loud but you get used to it. It is so addictive, just watching this makes me want to get outside and make some more beads. If you fancy a class get in touch £55 for one person and £95 for 2, it’s a 3 hour session which usually gives you time to make around 8 beads each. My studio is based in Colchester.

The EAT Award (Education and Training…nothing to do with food!)
I’ve been a bit quiet of late, having been on a week’s intensive teaching level 3 course in Shrewsbury and now desperately trying to get the assessments in by 15th December. Plus if I pass I hope to seriously speak to adult education providers about running regular classes. I will keep you posted.
Flamework fancy
Gayle 
joined me today to try out making flamework beads – glass beads made using a hot head torch. We went through various stages, from making a basic donut shaped bead, to pulling stringer, shaping and even trying out the bead presses. Gayle took to the techniques straight away, I can’t wait to see her beads once they come out of the kiln.
Enamelling for two anyone?
Sue and Sheila joined me on Wednesday for their first enamelling class, a great way to spend a day, particularly in light of that http://laparkan.com/buy-tadalafil/ day’s politics. We tried out various techniques including swirling. I think the ladies did a great job of fusing glass to metal, don’t you?
Encaustic art with Crafty Sew and Sews!
I was lucky enough to meet the Crafty Sew and Sews of Writtle in May when I first introduced them to Encaustic art, they had so much fun that they invited me back… this time I introduced a Christmassy theme. Encaustic art with Tony
Last Wednesday saw me teaching another Tony Encaustic Art. Tony had played around with Encaustic art (the art of painting with Molten wax) several years ago but now into his retirement, his wife had booked him a class as a hint, I think, to get going http://www.mindanews.com/buy-celexa/ again.
